Building Robust Layers of Security

As darker nights draw in, we’re focusing on maximising property protection with robust layers of security. Here we focus on how you can use the principle of “Circles of Security” in order to convert new customers and upsell existing ones, protecting their homes from the outer reaches of the property boundary, to the internal rooms and valuables within.

Referring to “Circles of Security” in sales conversations is an excellent way to help property-owners visualise the extent and depth of the threats that their property faces and the advanced coverage that cutting-edge systems such as those developed and manufactured by Pyronix can provide. This also provides an opportunity to demonstrate the added value that the solutions offer.

It can also be helpful to introduce the concept of ‘redundancy’ in circles of security, whereby if one circle is breached, another is already in place to provide further deterrence, detection and delay. This substantially increases the overall security of the property, and can help justify the cost of the solution by increasing its perceived value.

Moreover, at this time of year, as nights become longer, intruders can aim to take advantage of the cover that darkness provides. This makes a security system’s extended coverage even more vital for detecting intruders before they can get close to the property.

The circles of security can be split into three key layers, although more can be added as required, depending on the level of protection required:

External Protection

This is the first line of defence to prevent intruders even reaching the property.

Magnetic contacts such as the MCEXTERNAL-WE and tri-technology detectors (XDL12TT-WE), cover any garden, drives or outside areas of the property to prevent trespassers. Perimeter Protection

Protection shouldn’t stop with the external layer.

Prevent intruders from entering into the property with perimeter protection. Entrance points like windows and doors can be secured with compact magnetic contacts, such as the MCNANO-WE, which will trigger the alarm when opened and the system is armed. This protection can be extended with shock detectors such as the NANOSHOCK-WE, which discreetly protects against brute force attacks. Furthermore, door and porch areas are best protected by the DoorbellCam which provides Full-HD video footage whilst allowing for two-way conversations with any visitors.

Our industry-trusted wireless sounder, the Deltabell-WE, in its various forms is an essential addition to every installation. This device acts as a visual deterrent warding off intruders from approaching, as well as alerting people with its strobe and piezo when the alarm is activated. In addition to this, it can be customised with bespoke designs and logos to raise brand awareness and promote your business to new customers.

Internal protection

The final circle safeguards the core of the property. This includes familiar and powerful peripherals such as our extensive range of KX dual tech and PIR detectors, hold-up and medical devices (HUD/MED-WE), and valuable asset protection (ASSET-WE). Our comprehensive range enables flexible installations to meet the needs of any potential customers.

Furthermore, introducing smoke (SMOKE-WE2), carbon monoxide (CO-WE2) and heat detectors (HEAT-WE) to the system provides protection against threats that are not intruder related.
